The Rose Garden - Florence

The Rose Garden is located to the west of the Piazzale Michelangelo, towards the Viale Giuseppe Poggi. If you’re looking for a spot from which to admire Florence from the southern bank of the River Arno, but away from the hustle and bustle of the Piazzale Michelangelo, this relaxing garden is the perfect choice. As its name suggests, the garden planted by Giuseppe Poggi in 1865 contains around 350 varieties of roses. There’s also the added bonus of a Japanese garden, added in 1998. The Rose Garden and terrace make the perfect place to admire the view across Florence on a summer’s day, to write in your travel journal, or simply to let your mind wander.
