The Great Market Hall - Budapest

The Great Market is one of the great landmarks in Budapest. Designed and built by Samu Pecz. This is the place to do your souvenir shopping! There are loads of fresh fruit and vegetable stalls on the ground floor, and here's where you'll find your Hungarian paprika powder (a must for when you recreate all the dishes you tried here!). The second floor holds the touristy section with traditional craft items including dolls, traditional dresses and lacework. Get your souvenirs here to avoid paying the huge mark ups you often find in souvenir shops! Even if you're so strapped for cash you can't afford to buy anything this is a great place to come and see how Budapesters live on a day to day basis! Come on Monday if you want to avoid the crowd!
