Terror Museum - Budapest

Terror Hazá is the first terror museum in the world. You won't find cheap stunts or gore here, rather artefacts from the bloody Fascist and Communist eras. The building itself was the headquarters of the ÁVH secret police and was used to interrogate, torture and kill suspects and today serves as a memorial to those who were killed during these regimes. The striking façade is unmissable on the otherwise bright, UNESCO World Heritage street and the museum is controversial among Budapesters, with some feeling that it glorifies the horrors of the eras, and that too much emphasis is placed on the Communist regime. Superb yet chilling displays will give you a deeper insight into these dark periods of Hungary's past.
