Teatro della Pergola - Florence

Although the Teatro della Pergola has existed for more than 350 years, it has only been used for public performances since 1718. The theatre boasts the honour of having hosted certain Mozart operas, as well as Verdi’s ‘Macbeth’, for the very first time. Bear in mind the era in which the theatre was built: it makes its architecture all the more impressive. The floor, for example, can be raised to stage level to create an enormous ballroom. If you’d like to learn more about the theatre’s history, pop into its underground museum, whilst picking up your tickets for the evening performance.
