Seville University (formerly the Tobacco Factory) - Seville

The University of Seville is located on the premises of the former Sevillian Tobacco Factory, which was built in 1711. These buildings were considered revolutionary when they were first erected, thanks to innovations such as underground pipes and a complex ventilation system which made it possible to preserve and treat the tobacco. And even today this is a refreshingly cool spot on stiflingly hot days. On the portal leading into the university, a portrait of Christopher Columbus has been carved into the stone.
