Schottenstift Museum - Vienna

The museum in the Schottenstift displays the remarkable collections of art from the Benedictine Abbey in the old Bishop’s office. There are paintings, furniture, tapestries, paramentics and liturgical tools. A little painting gallery and an interior decorated entirely in the Restoration style lets you relive the historical eras. The apogee is polytypic (1469-1480) by the so called “Wiener Schottenmeister”, a painter whose real name is unknown and who was named after the magnificent work of flamboyant Gothic style which represents ‘The Flight from Egypt’. In the background you can see a detailed view of Vienna in the middle ages!
