San Miniato Church - Florence

We would recommend any visit of Florence to begin with the San Miniato Church. With its prime location at the top of the hill of the same name, it offers a lovely view over the city. What's more, this church is one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Tuscany. Its facade depicts several historical periods, including Ancient Rome. Meanwhile, the majestic interior is home to a Renaissance chapel by Michelozzo, an 11th century crypt, some lovely mosaics, a vault decorated by Lucca della Robia, and a fresco depicting the life of Saint Benedict, painted by Spinello Aretino in the 14th century.
