Papyrus Museum - Vienna


Immerse yourself in the daily life of the Ancient Egyptians at this museum at this museum in the Hofburg, which has one of the biggest papyrus collections in the world. The 200 objects on display at the Papyrus Museum represent only a small part of the whole collection. You can admire the oldest papyrus in the collection, a book of deaths from the middle of the 2nd century BC and the “youngest”, documents from the Islamic era in the 13th century, as well as objects which illustrate the life of the people who lived near the Nile for over 3 millennia!
