Palais Ferstel - Vienna

The palace was constructed by the architect Heinrich von Ferstel, from whom it takes its name. The architecture is strongly influenced by his long travels in Italy (1856-1860) (“Trecento-Architecture” Venetio-Florentine). It is one of the most splendid and architecturally fascinating buildings in the “Gründerzeit”. The beautiful façade is decorated with a lovely balcony and stone statues. For a long time, the Ferstel Palace was the headquarters of the Viennese stock exchange and the National Austro-Hungarian bank. You will also find the famous Café Central in the square of this beautiful building, with its lovely sunroofs. In the passage, you will find antiques shops, jewellers and furniture shops, as well as the famous chocolatiers Xocolat.
