Old City Hall - Vienna

The old City Hall on Wipplingerstraβe was built in the 17th century, and functioned as Vienna’s City Hall until 1883. It is alleged that during the 14th century a prestigious figure lived here, who conspired against the Hapsburgs. The house was consequently confiscated, and the owner was condemned… Today in the old City Hall you will find an archive centre dedicated to the Austrian Resistance during WWII. In the courtyard you can find the Andromeda-Brunnen a greatly decorated bas-relief, which depicts the myth of the beautiful Andromeda, created by the famous Baroque sculptor Rafael Donner.
