Natural History Museum - Vienna

You will be amazed by the striking diversity of nature in the Naturhistorische Museum! A visit to this museum offers you a magnificent overview of the history of planet Earth, from insects to gems, minerals and dinosaurs. The collection has some items of immense value, including many extinct species of animals, and those facing extinction. Not to be missed is the prehistoric stone statue, which takes its name from Wachau, the place where it was discovered, and the skeleton of a Diplodocus! The dinosaur, pterosaur and archaeopteryx (the ancient ancestors of birds) exhibitions are always favourites with young palaeontologists! The hall of gems truly sparkles, don’t miss the magnificent 117kg topaz and Empress Marie-Theresa’s bouquet of gems! By participating in a guided tour, you can go up to the roof of the museum, and from there take in the fantastic view of the Old Town.
