Lehár Schikaneder Castle - Vienna

Léhar-Schikaneder castle was built in 1737, and then rebuilt during the second half of the 19th century. The oldest part of the house is the front part, which leads to the garden, and the youngest part is the façade, which forms a charming focal point between the surrounding former wine growing houses and breweries. Emanuel Schikaneder, the librettist of the “Magic Flute” lived here from 1802-1812, and the operetta composer Franz Léhar wrote his “Giuditta” during his stay between 1932 and 1944. The house remains private property, but on the first floor you can admire original texts by the old inhabitants, photos and souvenirs of the two musicians
