Imperial Furniture Museum - Vienna
The Imperial Furniture Collection is a unique furniture museum that showcases the opulence of the Imperial houses. Originally it functioned as a way of organising the Hapsburgs’ furniture, to maintain and clean them before distributing them to the different Imperial homes. Today it is a unique mix of a museum, a workshop and a warehouse. It is dedicated to renovation and maintenance of the old furniture, which are then displayed in the museum for the whole world to see. The old “Imperial junk room” has become one of the most important furniture collections in the world! You can admire thousands of pieces, especially restoration and historical exhibits, as well as an Imperial travelling throne, an old Rococo spittoon, a toilet that is hidden behind a pile of books and other curiosities!
