Galleria Palatina - Florence

The Galleria Palatina is located in the left wing of the Palazzo Pitti, the Medicis and Lorenas' residence and later the House of Savoy's. Created at the end of XVIIIth century, the palace is partially decorated with frescos by Pietro da Cortona. The Galleria Palatina possess a superb collection of paintings from the XVIth to the XVIIIth century, almost all from Medicis' collections. There are paintings by Raphaël, Titian, Caravaggio, Van Dyck, Bronzino, Pollaiolo, Velazquez and Murillo. The old masters are still placed in accordance with XVIIth century decorative style. The golden-framed paintings occupy the walls' surface. The right wing houses the Royal Appartments composed of 14 superb rooms furnitured and decorated with objects from the XVIth century to the XIXth century.
