Former court house (The Liberty of Bruges) - Bruges


The city’s former courthouse is a Renaissance-style building, constructed between 1534 and 1537. It was once the base for the officials who controlled the area around Bruges. Inside, you will find The Liberty of Bruges museum, which boasts a stunning fireplace created in 1529 in honour of Emperor Charles V, as well as royal portraits, and paintings depicting justice.
