Eglise paroissiale Saint-Pierre - Mont-Saint-Michel
The church of Saint Peter was made for the inhabitants of the « rock ». The church, dedicated to Saint Peter, was built on the site of an ancient sanctuary and was refurbished in the Xvth and the XVIth century. It is the sanctuary of Saint Michael and thus contains a silver statue representing the archangel. The choir was built slightly on the left side of the axis because the nave has only one side aisle. The church also contains a medieval incumbent statue which lost its head, primitive XIIIth century bptismal fonts and a statue of the Virgin with child. As it is an important centre of pilgrimage, it has kept many ex-votos presented on he walls. They honour the patron saint of the armies and were often given by military orders. The church has also a cemetary where the Mère Poulard (a famous cook of the Mont-Saint-Michel) and her husband are buried.
Things to see: Saint Michael's statue, the tomb of the Mère Poulard.
