Eglise abbatiale du Mont-Saint-Michel - Mont-Saint-Michel

At the top of the « rock » is the abbatial church built between 1023 and 1084. It was partially built upon the Carolingian church. The nave and the transeptsdate back to the Romanesque era whereas the choir and the chapels to the gothic era. The current choir the construction of which lasted a whole century was built after the collapsing of the romanesque choir in 1421. The three western bays of the nave were brought down because of a fire that occurred in 1776. The classical façade was made in 1780.

Things to see: the four bay nave and the transept crossing. The ornemental keystones.
