Dominican Church - Vienna

The imposing Dominican Church was rebuilt in 1631 and dedicated to the Virgin Mary during the time of the Catholic resurgence- although protestants have always contested the value of the Saint. For a long time the area had been inhabited by the Dominicans, and a monastic community was set up in 1237, founding in that same year their first cloister and church. After St Stephen’s Cathedral, the Dominican church is the second largest in Vienna.

Open Monday-Friday 9am-12pm and 3pm-5.30pm. During August and September open only in the morning.
