Casa di Dante museum - Florence

The house where the Divina Commedia's author was born is located in a maze of streets and buildings reminding of Medieval Florence.

After some research, in 1865 was discovered the house in which Dante Alighieri lived. Then, in 1911, started the restoration and refurbishment of the house. The edifice was rebuilt according to a XIIIth century Florentine house. After the buildings around the house were brought down, the square was built. The museum, divided into three sections, offers a great journey through Dante's life and era. The first floor illustrates Florence at the time and the early years of the poet's life. The second floor is dedicated to the exile and death of Dante. Finally, the third floor displays objects linked to the artist and also different editions of the Divina Commedia.
