Casa Almirall - Barcelona

Casa Almirall was opened in 1860 next to Barcelona's contemporary art museum and is renowned for its modernist decor, with a pretty mirror behind the marble bar and a superb sculpture representing the muse of the Universal Exhibition which took place in Barcelona in 1888. The bar is divided into two parts: the first with designer chairs and table is separated from the second by a glass screen, while the latter is decked out in deep sofas with dimmed lighting, giving it a more intimate atmosphere. Over the background sounds of classic, modern or avant-garde jazz, you can nibble on some anchovies, the bar's speciality. It's also worth noting that Casa Almirall occasionally welcomes cultural demonstrations, including silent cinema cycles, discussions and debates on a variety of subjects and even musical concerts.

Open every day 7pm - 2.30am.
