Calle Mateos Gago - Seville

The Calle Mateos Gago follows the alignment of the former Jewish precinct. In 1923, the street was widened and lined with pavements and rows of orange trees. With a myriad of restaurants and tapas bars, it has now become the busiest tourist thoroughfare in the area. From the far end of the street, you get one of the most stunning views of the Cathedral and particularly the Giralda, its former minaret, now the Cathedral's bell-tower. The contrast between the arcades, with their warm ochre tones, and the bright blue of the Seville sky is particularly striking.
