Burg Square - Bruges
The small, charming Burg Square represents the original heart of Bruges: the Count of Flanders built a fortress on this site in the 10th century. Today, it is still surrounded by arguably the most important, and undoubtedly the most well-known monuments in the city. Indeed, here you will find the Town Hall, which is a magnificent stone building with three turrets fixed to the roof and a facade adorned with statues. There is also the Saint-Sang basilica or 'Basilica of the Holy Blood', not to mention the former law courts, which date back to the 16th Century. No visit to Bruges is complete without passing through this square!
