Bladelin Court - Bruges

This townhouse, commonly known as Bladelin Court, was built by Pieter Bladelin in around 1440. Bladelin was one of the principal dignitaries of the Duchy of Burgundy, which at the time controlled the county of Flanders, as well as treasurer of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The townhouse sits between a courtyard and a garden, in keeping with the tastes of the time (though the garden is on the small side). In the garden, you will especially admire the medallion portraits that adorn the building’s rear facade and keep the memory of its first owners alive.
