Itinerary: one week on the Costa Brava

The Costa Brava is one of the most popular regions of Spain with tourists, who rely on the sun insurance and heat throughout the season and beyond, the ideal formula for enjoy as it should be all the seaside pleasures of the region.

A week seems a good compromise to browse most of the Costa Brava; a route that does not seek to linger in the ultra-resorts but rather to reveal the charms of a coastal region whose attractions go well beyond the beach, relaxing and festive evenings.

Let's see how to reconcile all this with an example of a route spanning one week. The ideal course will travel by car to benefit from freedom of movement.

Day 1

Spend the first day at CadaquƩs , a fishing village has retained its charm and its white houses spared by concreting. Stroll through the village streets, a ride to the beach or the small rocky coves. In the afternoon, join Port Lligat , nearby, to visit the stunning house museum Dali. Back to Cadaques for a quiet evening.

Day 2:

Go in the morning before the hot weather for a beautiful hike through the Cap de Creus , and try to reach the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes for a magnificent view. The bravest will climb further to the ruins of the castle of Sant Salvador de Verdera. End the day in Cadaques, on the terrace or on the beach.

Day 3:

Cadaques departure for a small foray into the land, Figueres . Stroll through the charming historic center, before tackling the Theater-Museum Dali, designed by the artist himself. A cultural tour not to be missed. By late afternoon, join the Coast stopover L'Escala , sample some specialties on the seafront of the old town. Overnight camping.

Day 4:

From the campsite, the beautiful beach of Cala Montgo is just next door. Enjoy the early hours as there are not many people, between the sand and creeks as always. A nice place to don mask and snorkel. then go for a nice seaside stroll to the village of

Sant Marti d'Empuries , with a visit to the archaeological site in the process. Take late afternoon the road to reach Estartit , to spend the evening.

Day 5:

No need to dwell on the crowded beach of L'Estartit. Prepare rather a dive day shipping for you Medes Islands , not far off, and recognized as one of the best spots in the area. Several diving centers on site to organize the tour.

Day 6:

A small step to change urban Girona . Take the day to wander through the remarkable historic center, the cathedral, the walls, the Jewish quarter, the Arab baths ... a fascinating historical heritage, giving the town a particularly pleasant setting. Enjoy the ambience and spend the night there in a pension, for example.

Day 7:

finish your walk with a '' true '' resort in the Costa Brava fashion: Lloret de Mar . Mingle with the crowd on the beach and along the seafront, or search for a piece of eccentric creek for more tranquility from within for a small hike in the backcountry. At night fiesta in the bars and clubs of the station to end the trip.
