Villa of the Quintilii - Rome

At the time of its construction during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the early 2nd century, the Villa des Quintili was probably one of the most luxurious residences in the outskirts of Rome. The residence of the wealthy Quintili brothers then the personal abode of Emperor Commodus, the villa is now home to a museum exhibiting statues, friezes and other remains which complemented its latter-day opulence. Relatively well preserved baths and a hippodrome are also found here.
