Triton Fountain - Rome

This fountain on the Piazza Barberini depicting a triton blowing into a conch shell, supported by four dolphins, was completed by Bernini in 1643. This is considered one of his best works. The fountain was commissioned by Pope Urban VIII, of the celebrated Barberini family. The family crest in the form of three bees is in evidence between two of the dolphins.
