Sternberg Palace - Prague

Sternberg Palace is reached through a passage running alongside the Archbishop’s Palace. The building standing here today was part of a more ambitious project which was never completed. The building is remarkable for its elliptical pavilion overlooking the garden. It is home to the very rich collection of Ancient European art (from 15th to 18th centuries) of the National Gallery. The Italian schools and the schools of Northern Europe are well represented and include some major works. Amongst the great names exhibited here are in particular, Dürer, Mabuse, Cranach, Tintoretto, Rembrandt, Rubens and Goya.
