Stallburg - Vienna
Even though Stallburg is a part of the Hofburg, it is a great site by itself! It was originally built for Maximilien II, the heir to the throne, who is said to have been a protestant, because his father Ferdinand I of Hapsburg did not want to live under the same roof as his infidel son! Later the Stallburg housed the art collections of Leopold-William of Hapsburg, which can now be viewed in the KHM. For a long time it has been the stable of the Imperial horses (which is where its name comes from), and today it houses the Spanish Riding School.
