Spada Gallery - Rome
The Spada Gallery is located in the palace of the same name and is home to the art collection of Cardinal Bernardino Spada in the 17th century plus a few later additions made by Virginio then Fabrizio Spada. Today there are four painting galleries where 16th and 17th century works are still hanging in the original style of the day - without spacing between the various frames and with smaller canvases hanging above larger ones. The works of Titian, Brueghel the Elder, Caravaggio, Rubens, Domenichino, Parmigianino and Giambattista Gauli are displayed alongside an ancient statue from Pompeii.
