Sant'angelo castel - Roma

The edifice was founded in 123 A.D. and is the emperor Hadrian's tomb (and later Emperor Caracalla's too). Through the centuries, it was modified several times and changed functions, being successively a keep, a pontifical residence during the Renaissance era and later a prison for political detainees. Now it hosts a museum of ancient weapons and sometimes temporary exhibitions.

To see: the bronze quadriga driven by Hadrian which overlooks the edifice, the early Christian and medieval ceramics, the Renaissance sculptures and paintings, the ancient weapons.
