Plaça de Sant Josep Market - Barcelona

Are you looking to buy a unique and arty souvenir? Then Plaça de Sant Josep is the place to go. This small market in the Gothic quarter, in the shadow of the church, is full of Catalan artists and their works, covering all sorts of styles, from watercolours to oils, with subjects ranging from landscapes to portraits. The artists are friendly and always willing to engage you in conversation if you can manage a few phrases in Spanish. You can often find the same artists at the bottom of Las Ramblas most afternoons, if you're tempted by a portrait or a caricature.
