Les Invalides (Hôtel national des Invalides) - Paris

This monumental structure is home to a wealth of historical treasures. Apart from the tombs of the principal French military figures from Turenne to Foch and including the Emperor Napoleon, the facades of the Hotel des Invalides are adorned with magnificent sundials. You'll also find the Musée de l'Armée or Military Museum located here. Finally, the talented architect Jules Hardouin Mansart built two churches within the complex: one for the veteran soldiers and another remarkable and grandiose structure reserved for the king and distinguished guests. It's the latter which houses the crypt of the Emperor Napoleon.
