Column of Marcus Aurelius - Rome

Modelled on Trajan's Column, the Column of Marcus Aurelius is a Doric Column was built sometime between 176 AD and 193 AD in order to honour the Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Standing at a height of 41.95 metres, the column is decorated with spiral picture relief depicting the Emperor’s victories over the Marcomanni, Quadi and other Germanic peoples and, towards the top of the column, the Sarmatians.
