Church of Saint Lawrence - Zedelgem

The foundations of the Church of St Lawrence in Zedelgem, 9km (5.5 miles) from Bruges, were laid in the 12th century. The lower part of the facade survives from this period, as do the interior’s shape and simple layout, three church vessels, and a semicircular apse containing a sanctuary. From the exterior, you can admire the impressive bell tower that has dominated the western facade since the 14th century. Once inside, you’ll find an interior that was re-imagined in a classical style in the 17th century. Here it is the stunning wooden pulpit, created in 1766 and bolstered by a statue of Saint John the Evangelist, that is sure to capture your attention
