Catacombs of San Callisto - Rome

The Catacombs of San Callisto are the largest and most well-known of Rome. The tomb of Saint Cecilia is to be found in the Catacombs of Saint Callisto even though her remains now rest in the Basilica of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere. As many as 50 martyrs were buried in these Catacombs along with 16 of the early Popes of Rome. Numerous frescos and many of the mausoleums make this site worth a detour.
