Caesar forum - Roma

Caesar's forum, measuring 160 by 75 metres, originally surrounded by a colonnade, was financed by the dictator himself. Inaugurated in 46 B.C., the temple of Venus Genitrix, the mother of Aenea and ancestor of the gens Julia according to the legend, was built after his victory over Pompey. The temple was restored by Domitian then Trajan who added the basilica of Argentaria. Today, only one third of the ancient forum is visible.
