Bronx - New_York

The Bronx is the only district of New York that is not an island. For a bit of history, it began as a collection of small villages. It is a peaceful area which has seen an influx of urban culture over the years. The south of the Bronx seems neglected, worn out, with art- deco style buildings running along the Grand Concourse. However, the Italian area (Belmont) is welcoming, and the charming neighbourhood known as Riverlade is very pleasant. The area houses a large African- American, Spanish and new immigrant community. Although considered a ghetto, you will be pleasantly surprised to find some attractive parks such as the Bronx Zoo which holds over 4000 species of animals, the botanical garden, the Poe Cottage and even the Van Cortland Park. A visit to the Bronx is a must if you want to experience the outdoors!
