Borghese gallery and museum - Roma

The Villa Borghese was built just outside Rome in 1612 by the cardinal Scipio Borghese to be his second residence for the keeping of his collection of ancient sculptures. He was a great admirer of Caravaggio and patron of Bernini. His heirs enriched the collection and changed the villa's inside's style into neoclassicism. The park was made during the XVIIIth century. In 1902 the property was sold to the State of Italy.

To see: works of art by Raphael, Bernini, Rubens, Canova, Lorenzo Lotto, Caravaggio, Jacopo Bassano, Titian, Domenichino, Antonello da Messina and more.
