If you are, then head to the Gothic quarter, where you'll find everything you need and more, as Barcelona's old town is full of pleasant surprises. You can mix some culture in with your shopping, thanks to the area's numerous original antique stores, bookshops, young stylists' boutiques and even old traditional boutiques such as hatters and candlemakers. The Carrer d'Avinyo, known as the ""shady road"", which Picasso and his friends were particularly fond of, and a must visit address for its trendy cutting edge fashion boutiques. There are plenty of antique stores on the Carrer de la Palla and the Carrer dels Banys Nous as well as in the surrounding area, and you'll find lots of cafés and bars where you can grab a drink and a bite to eat while resting your feet. Don't miss the Avinguda del Portal de l'Angel which is a large pedestrian artery lined with various shops, where you're as likely to find shoes as you are pastries. Starting at the Corte Inglés department store and stretching down to the Carrer dels Boters and Carrer de la Portaferrissa, it's the place to find fancy jewellery and streetwear. The Barri Gótic is definitely the place to go for old shops selling original and unique items.
