Antoninus and Faustina temple - Roma


Built in 141 A.D. upon Antoninus Pius's order, the temple was originally dedicated to Faustina the Elder, his wife. At the emperor's death, the temple received an inscription for the dedication to Antoninus. The temple built upon a podium and preceded by stairs contains the vestiges of an altar and its fa├žade is composed of 6 marble columns with corinthian capitals. In the XIth century, the temple was occupied by the San Lorenzo in Miranda church which was destroyed and rebuilt in 1602.
