Aeropage - Athens

The areopagus, located on one of the Acropolis's side, was the site of the Senate. The name means « hill of Ares ». According to a legend, Ares was summoned to the court of the Olympian gods by Poseidon at this very place. It was also there that Saint Paul, because there was an altar dedicated to « unknown gods », preached Christianism to the Greeks. This natural site offers indeed a magnificient view over Athens.
