The southern Gulf of Naples is closed by the Sorrento peninsula, after which tip off Capri, the island well known. The southern coast of the peninsula, around the town of Amalfi, and Salerno is deemed to well beyond the Italian borders for the beauty of its route. The coastline of the Amalfi Coast (Costiera amalfitana) is particularly spectacular effect: high reliefs based steeply to the sea, offering in every respect unforgettable views. Several villages, typically Mediterranean style, rocked under the blazing sun of the Italian south, are embedded in what appear to be deep crevices; small harbors and reach the sea. City still in medieval character, Amalfi, just like the rest of the Amalfi coast, is classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, underlining a little more uniqueness of this site. ... read more
