Pauillac Pauillac, city of more than 5000 inhabitants, is considered the capital of the Médoc, and is a must on of-wine-of-maroon-25470 Bordeaux wine routes. On the banks of the Gironde, the largest estuary in Europe, the town has a small marina with its eighteenth façades to docks, promenade, restaurants, pubs and all kinds of small businesses. Pauillac includes a concentration of the highest vineyards, including several great wines among the most famous of the Bordeaux region; hiking trails through the vineyards or marshes, while the castles welcome visitors for wine tastings that will mark the palate. In September, the Médoc marathon is a festive event where race mixture, costumes and wine tasting.
