Annecy

Annecy, in the northern French Alps, is nicknamed the Venice of Savoie, a well deserved title. The medieval city is beautiful, it is built around a castle of the fourteenth century and is crossed by small canals that make their way to Lake Annecy. It is clean and a nice blue color. In summer it is an exceptional place to stay and practice many water activities. Annecy is also a great base to reach the ski resorts of Haute-Savoie. Besides its old town center with small alleys for pleasant stroll, it contains such stunning chateaux that Annecy built between the XII and XVI century, the Palace of the Isle of the twelfth century, the castle of Novel and of Trésum . The religious buildings are meanwhile no exception, to see among others the Cathedral of St. Peter the sixteenth century and the Church of the Visitation, which offers great views over the city. The lake offers the possibility of many water activities such as water skiing, parasailing, wake boarding. Many athletes born here such Jeannie Longo, Vincent Vittoz or skater Vanessa Gusmeroli.
