Cimetière des Batignolles

|
Originally, it was hardly more than 1000 m2 and stetched out over the Clichy area. It had been created for the burial of residents of the entirely new Batignolles-Monceaux community, which had become independent of Clichy by a royal order in February 1830. It quickly became apparent that the cemetery was too small. In 1847, brought it up to an area of almost 4 hectares. Joined with the capital in 1860, it underwent later a second enlargement of approximately 7 hectares. Since then, the necropolis has remained practically unchanged which has passed over and alongside it since 1969. Today, with its 15,000 graves, the Batignolles Cemetery is also a lovely leafy green area of 10 hectares, with 800 trees; |
